I took a trip to San Francisco and Napa Valley for a quick 4 night getaway to checkout the Napa Valley Cab Fest which ended up being one of the best weekends I’ve had in awhile. If drinking wine all weekend wasn’t perfect enough, I discovered the best brunch I have ever had in my life in St. Helena, California North of Napa. Archetype is a hot brunch spot that also serves dinner from 5:30PM- 9:00PM. The restaurant has a lively indoor seating area as well as an outdoor dining area. I sat at a table on the covered patio next to the fireplace and heaters. It was the perfect balance of chic and charming. I am totally in love with this place.
I couldn’t decide what to order because everything on the menu looked to die for, but I settled on the fresh fruit and Norwegian eggs which I HIGHLY recommend. The fruit was really tasty: there was a generous selection of sweet blood oranges, bananas, pineapples and more. The Norwegian eggs is what really had my attention though. I love lox and english muffins and this was the most delicious meal I have ever tasted. It’s probably on the heavier side of calories with a hollondaise sauce topping, but when in Napa make the splurge. Even after I devoured every single bite I was still left with mouth-watering cravings for more. The latte was the best part though. A chocolatey flavor and bold taste: it was less acidic than most coffee houses I frequent which I preferred. My overall review of this place is a solid 5 stars.
Archetype is great for bloggers like myself. Everything is perfectly prepared and picture ready with a beautiful presentation down to the decorative plants on each table in the restaurant. The outstanding service matched that of the amazing decor and fabulous food. Our waiter was extremely helpful when making suggestions from the menu helping with drink and food pairings. When we asked for to-go cups for our lattes while paying for our tab he insisted we take our time and enjoy our drinks while the restaurant closed to prepare for dinner.
Archetype was superb. My only regret was not asking for the manager or owner to relay my satisfaction. I have literally thought about Archetype too many times to count since arriving back in LA. Fingers crossed someone in LA gets word of this place and Archetype makes it way to Southern California soon!
