As I try to navigate the entrepreneurial world and share my journey, I want to discuss one of the hardest things about following your passion. Which is, remaining optimistic, and positive, in uncertain times. When things don’t go as planned, which 99.9% of the time they don’t, it can be challenging to maintain a positive perspective. However, there are ways to stay positive and keep on your path in moments of weakness.
Oftentimes, because of our fears, our loved ones and friends may discourage us from our dreams. If you have been at it for awhile and are having high-highs and low-lows with little consistency, or you’re just starting out and it’s been a struggle; your loved ones worry because they want the best for you. It’s not that they don’t support your dreams, but they can’t understand your struggle if they’re not going through it. It’s hard to relate to something you know nothing about and are not passionate about as well. That’s why it’s good to have friends that are like-minded. They will help keep you on your path and will understand the trials and tribulations it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.
When it comes to building an online brand and utilizing social media as a tool to build your brand awareness, there’s a high probability that your loved ones will not understand. Especially parents, grandparents, and some of your peers. That’s why it’s important to practice staying in a positive mindset and trusting that you are on the right path to achieve your goals and accomplishments. Part of being a freelancer is trusting that you will get through the peaks and valleys and navigate the waters. Preparing for those times is highly recommended.
Perspective is all we have. If you lead with positivity, speak positivity, and believe in positivity, you’re going to attract positivity. It’s the Law of Attraction: it’s going to come back to you. It might not be on your timeline, but it will. If you’re applying yourself and holding yourself accountable by doing all the things that you need to do: dotting your I’s and crossing, your T’s, while staying on top of your game, there’s no way that you can fail. I truly believe that. If no one has told you today that you are doing and awesome job let me be the first to tell you that you are!
There will come a time when all of your hard work pays off and the people who might have reservations about your career moves now will see your path and understand your choices later. Until then, it is not up to them to decide your future and what is best for you. Whether it works out or it doesn’t, you won’t know unless you try. I advocate for you to stay on your path, double down on what you are extremely passionate about, and hustle.
Nothing happens overnight. But when it does, it’s the most rewarding feeling making it through all of the hardships. If you’re struggling with loved ones not supporting your journey, or having moments of weakness in your own process, give yourself a break. Everybody deserves a break from time to time. Your time will come: be patient with yourself.
Be patient with your process and don’t give up on your dreams. Think about why you started your journey. What you want to achieve and how you can get there. Take baby steps. One step in front of the other. When you start to have a negative shift and get discouraged, remember how far you’ve come. Remind yourself that you have achieved a lot and give yourself a pat on the back. Everybody deserves to congratulate themselves. The fact that you tried is pretty amazing because a lot of people wouldn’t take a chance on their dreams.
Celebrate yourself! Be happy with yourself. Don’t put too much pressure on the people that can’t see the things that you see now. Don’t put expectations on what your loved ones want for you, or their support of you. Allow them room to be. They will come around. Just remember, they have your best interest at heart. Trust your process, focus on your journey, and don’t steer away from that. You’re doing awesome and things outside of your realm of possibility are going to come to fruition if you keep on your path. Greatness is on its way! Follow for more.
