When I started my blog I planned for it to grow into a resource for fashion, travel, lifestyle, et cetera. However, I never imagined men’s and women’s beauty would become the most highly requested topic, by you, my readers. I consider myself a self-proclaimed beauty enthusiast so the segue from fashion to beauty was natural. Although it wasn’t until I began to study the history of beauty that I learned I didn’t have all the answers. In fact, I have used some of the wrong products for years and never knew it until now. I recently discovered not all products are equal. Right now there is one product you are using that’s making you look 10 years older and the crazy thing is you probably don’t know it!
Thank God for YouTube. My bible for nonsurgical beauty hacks. There is a beauty blogger for every beauty need: Snatched noses (yes, that’s a thing!), contouring, brows, fuller lips, highlighting, eyeshadow, and so on. Once I realized I could change my appearance without surgery I was hooked on these tricks. Now I’m obsessed with clean beauty products and anti-aging. Although skincare is the solution to long-term results, there are products like concealer that help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and dark circles and add years of youth to your skin. What I’m saying is there are dozens of great concealers on the market, although you may be using the wrong one causing you to look older than you are. Using the right foundation is key too, but it technically is a coverage for the perfect complexion so I will only focus on concealer.
When it comes to investing in beauty care concealer has never been a product I thought much about. My splurge purchases were typically only my staples: Foundation, mascara, powder and lipstick. When I ran out of concealer I would use anything I had that was accessible. I tried YSL, Chanel, Laura Mercier, Coll-Lab, Neutrogena… the list goes on. These products all provided decent coverage but I still wasn’t happy. That’s when I discovered a makeup tutorial that another blogger shared comparing 9 different concealers. Her argument was the same as mine now. The wrong concealer can add 10 years to your life. I watched her video and it changed my opinion of concealer. The next day I invested in one of her recommended products and I haven’t looked back.
If your concealer emphasizes your dark circles, wrinkles, fine lines or pores you could be using the wrong one. The only way to be sure is to compare products to see for yourself. When I compared the concealer I was using to the one she recommend there was no contest. I was shocked to find the products I love were the products that gave me insecurity over my skin. I didn’t notice it sooner because all of the products I was using have great initial coverage. It wasn’t until the 3rd, 4th, 5th hour into wearing the concealer that it began to empathize, in my case, wrinkles and caused me to look older. Now I rely on Maybelline Instant Age Rewind.
Instant Age Rewind does exactly what it advertises. It conceals my problem areas all day. I no longer think about botox or other procedures every time I look in the mirror. I am happier with my makeup results. Of course concealer is not a permanent solution to looking younger, but using the right concealer is a product fix that has worked for me. If you can spare $9.99 do yourself a favor and get Maybelline. Your skin will be happy you did!
