I headed to Washington, D.C in early January ’14 to celebrate the birthday of one of my friends. It was the first time I had been to D.C. since performing with my college dance team at the 2001 Inauguration parade and Black Tie and Boots. We celebrated with an exceptionally wonderful dinner at The Warehouse Bar & Grill restaurant in Old Town Alexandria. I had the salmon which was just the right portion size and decadence before venturing around Northwest D.C. where we grabbed pints of beer at Bar Pilar and Satellite Room. Aside from the traditional landmark stops at the Korean War Veterans Memorial and Lincoln Memorial, my personal favorite part of my trip besides the crab cakes we had at Old Ebbit was the National Portrait Gallery. You can spend a week there, but I only had a day. I did however get a picture with Marylin Monroe, one of my favorite artist, Andy Warhol’s pieces. Overall the trip was perfect. I didn’t have enough time to see everything I would have liked to, but I know I’ll be back soon. If you get a chance to visit D.C. I highly recommend dropping by the W Washington D.C.Hotel for a drink and checking out the P.O.V. Roof Terrace. There’s an enormous outdoor bar atop the roof that overlooks the city with an incredible view of the White House. It’s especially worth the night time picture opt!
